We're heading back into con season and I'm starting to get really pumped for this summer plans ;D but for now, it's time to re-cap out AMAZING trip to Australia! This is a late journal entry for sure, but there has just been so much going on since we got back that I figured that this had mind as well wait until I can give it some proper attention XD

I am so thankful to Gold Coast Film Festival for inviting us this year. It was an incredible expereince, and one that was really unlike any other con or event we've ever been to. I think what really hit me was being in a van with the other Film Festival guests (Lucas Till (Havoc from X-Men: First Class), Natalia Tena (Tonks from Harry Potter), Vic Mignogna and other actors while driving to Supanova's Dreamworld After Dark. I thought "here are some famous people, and we're included in their group... this is NUTS!". We also had a booth that we were stationed at for Supanova and I didn't notice until one of the staff at the booth told us that we actually had a huge line up of people that were waiting to come up and talk to us. A line-up!!! We were certainly kept busy for our 8 hour shifts at the Supanova booth and it was wonderful to get to meet so many people there. I was worried about being bored having to sit there all day but you guys DEFINITELY kept us entertained! Thank you!

Special shout out to our Australia crew! :iconradclawedraid:, :iconnewti:, :iconbjmac:, :iconsceleratus:, Louise (Bubbleberry) and Kee's boyfriend :D I really miss these guys and I wish SO MUCH that we had just one extra day in Gold Coast to just spend the whole day chilling with them. I miss them :(

Then I have to give such an enormous thank you to the staff of Gold Coast Film Festival for being a warm, loving, caring family. They treated us so well, there wasn't a moment where I didn't feel at ease there, despite all the stuff that was going on around us. Special shout out to Richard, who was one of the most hilarious people I've ever met and so very kind. To our drivers, who all worked so hard and who were all so amusing that every ride was a lot of fun! And of course to Casey, who is a huge supporter of cosplay, a wonderful person and who invited us to Australia in the first place!

Tuesday

I guess I should start this off by mentioning that we almost didn't get into Australia XD After landing at LAX we had a lengthy layover which went just fine until our airline called us up with 40 minutes before the plane boarded... we hadn't applied for Australian visas, I wasn't aware you had to, but we were suddenly in a rushed panic to get our Visas online. I was SHAKING. I was so fearful that we were going to be denied entry that I was physically shaking. After dealing with a woman who was really of no help we were called over by two Delta agents who calmly figured it all out for us.

Wednesday

DID NOT EXIST CAUSE OF TIME CHANGE... HAH!

Thursday

We arrived in Brisbane and thankfully found our driver right away. He was the cheeriest guy even, and on our 1 hour or so long drive to Gold Coast he basically did a summery of Australia for us XD Oddly enough his daughter was also a cosplayer! Although we never did get a chance to see her at Supanova...

We arrived in Gold Coast and were greeted right away by Casey, who gave us kickass swag bags! After settling into our hotel room (which was probably the fanciest hotel room I've ever been in XD) we met up with our Australia crew for a very delicious sushi lunch! After that we got changed into Ashitaka and San for the Red Carpet opening of the Gold Coast Film Festival!

We had never walked a red carpet before, so I gotta say we were both nervous about it with all of the cameras and lights everywhere. But we got on there and did a few poses and it went really well! Right after that we were stopped for a television interview, which is what's going on in this photo:

We met :iconnamikazesuzumaki: who was in Naruto cosplay at the event! She was the first cosplayer we met in Australia! It was wonderful to get to hang out with a fellow cosplayer there and I was so honoured that she came to the event to see us

We went to the premiere film of the festival, a movie called "Future Folk" which was really fun to watch. It was chalk full of original music and really fresh and fun humour.

We got back in the van to go back and actor Tony Todd (from Final Destination and Candyman) got into a conversation with us about cosplay. Turns out that he's really interested in it XD

Friday

Friday morning was our first section of free-time, so we woke up early to enjoy the nearby beach with bjmac, RadClawedRaid and Bubbleberry. The waves were HUGE and I got cocky at one point and swam out a little. I got caught in a riptide and found myself pretty far out. Scary moment when you swim madly to shore and realize that you're not getting any closer XD I must have gotten myself out of the rip and I arrived back on shore exhausted. Then then I went back in with Bubbleberry and we had a great chat while giant attack waves threw us around in the water.

We went back to the hotel and changed into Link and Zelda from Skyward Sword. Before we left we took some photos with our crew, including bjmac was was cosplaying Pippit!

We then went to our interview with the incredibly talented and wonderful Maria Lewis (twitter.com/moviemazz). The interview went really well. A familiar face, NamikazesUzumaki was in the audience and at the end of the interview two cosplayers who were in the audience asked for a hugs XD very chill and fun interview indeed :)

After the interview we headed to the premier of "My Other Me: A Film About Cosplayers". It was a really fun night :)

Saturday

This was our first day at Supanova Expo! We were at the con by 10am dressed as Flynn and Rapunzel (Tangled). We sat down at the Gold Coast Film Festival booth next to Lucas Till and Jason Trost from "All Superheroes Must Die". At first I was really worried. next to these two big name actors and I figured we just be sitting there doing nothing...
But as soon as the doors opened a lot of people came up to us to chat and it was incredible!!!

The day went by in an amazing blur of meeting people from all over and seeing so many amazing cosplayers. I started to lose my voice because I talked to people so much XD

We left the con and went back to the hotel to prepare for our performances at Supanova After Dark at Dreamworld, and then we went downstairs and loaded into a van with all the other guests who were performing there.

This was a crazy ass van ride.
The traffic was really thick so we ended up getting there kinda late. We arrived at the theme park and a bunch of the actors ran off into the bushes and started peeing. It was so bizarre to witness a bunch of famous people pissing right in front of you.

Nova and I prepped for our skits. I was REALLY nervous because line memorization is not something I'm good at. Improv I can do, but since this skit was so script involved I really had to buckle down. We were on last, right after Vic Mignogna, so there was a lot of anxiety on my behalf just waiting to start performing.

The skits went perfectly. We didn't mess up once and once I got performing everything just poured out smoothly and I was totally at peace and comfortable. You can see our skits here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YzrOX6… www.youtube.com/watch?v=63yxTy…

After we finished the skits there was a spontaneous dance party with all the people who came up to see us afterwards and this was AWESOME!!!! OMFG all I remember was Gangnam Style and Venga Boyz coming on and then we all just started dancing.

When that was over we had a little time to try some rides, so with a group of people (:iconjinx-2: and :iconbreezecodi: and many others who's DA names I don't have!) we went on The Claw (BEST RIDE EVER) a flippy ride and a spinny ride. I felt really bad having suggested the spinny ride though because one of our friends got ill on that ride :( ALL MY FAULT!!!! D8 She was okay, thankfully, and at that point the park was closing so we went back to find the GCFF staff who were chaperoning us and we drove back. This ride back was so much fun I don't even.

Sunday

Sunday morning was the Cosplay Parade, which was a really big and really well received event by the public! We went as Sora and Riku (Kingdom Hearts) and marched with the Gold Coast Film Festival contingent!

The parade lead to Supanova Expo so when we got there we were escorted back into the exhibition room to the Gold Coast Film Festival table. This morning was much quieter. We went for lunch with the crew:

After lunch a bunch of people arrived and we were kept company for the rest of the day by visits from awesome Aussies

After a while everything just bacame trolling and once again I almost lost my voice from talking so much. BUT I JUST COULDN'T STOP!!!! XD Had so many fun conversations with people and had so many wonderful moments. We got heartfelt cards from people, artwork, CANDY, Tim Tams, and we also got stuffed animals from three sisters who we so sweet and wonderful

We also got to meet a lot of people that we have known via the Internet for a while! That's always really cool, to get to meet someone in real life :3

The con was incredible. And it was intensely hard to leave :( Thank you so SO MUCH to everyone who dropped by to say hi, chat with us, take photos with us, let us take photos with them, and just generally everyone who welcomed us to Australia! I wish I could have mentioned everyone that we met by name in this journal but this this is already LONG ENOUGH I'm sure. I feeeeeel like I may have written a novella here XD

Thank you Australia!!! We miss you!
