This is one of my dream cosplays. Simple, but I remember wanting to make this costume while reading my mom's edition of Peter Pan. This must have been an older edition, though I can't recall the illustrator. All I know is that Peter was dressed in leaves and his hair was black, curly and wild. I liked this version of Peter Pan far better than the Disney version (a version that I still like, just not as much). Did I mention that I was a Peter Pan fanatic when i was younger? To this day it's still one of my all-time favourite stories (and Peter Pan is one of my all time favourite characters).
When I saw the 2003 version of Peter Pan I recognized Peter's look as being similar to the book I read when I was younger. I loved the way they told Peter Pan in that movie, the visuals in particular are the best take on J.M. Barrie's story in my opinion.
Costume made by me, fake leaves and pan flute bought locally.
**CRAP I put the vine rope over the wrong shoulder, I knew that something felt off D: oh well, just an excuse to wear this costume again
Neat to read your comment. I think if I were to be honest and define my feelings from way back in the 80's, I'd have to say I had a huge crush on Peter Pan. I couldn't decide if I wanted him as my best friend, or to BE him.
I clearly remember reading (yet another) illustrated book of that story and running to Mom and telling her I thought he was the coolest kid ever... and then tip-toeing back to my room feeling totally weird when she just looked at me funny for saying that. I think right at that moment, I realized I really WAS a 'strange' kid. She ended up thinking I was a cross-dresser, but all I wanted was to wear tights like my hero .
Anyway, your design is awesome. Thanks for sharing it!
Spot on cosplay (who cares about the vine rope over the wrong shoulder: It looks natural, it looks right).
A gorgeous photograph to boot.
You're blonde again... O__O?
